Aug. 10, 2005 - Hi!
Clear's party was fabulous!!!
She got very surprised, she loved.
We went out everyday, and she payed everything to me!! She didn't like very much our chinese food... which was a pity. I could improve my french a lot! Her accent is so cute... a friend of mine got really interested in her, but she didn't like him at all.

May. 12, 2005 - Lin Antai Old Homestead

The Old Residence of Lin AnTai was dismantled in August 1978 to give way to the expanded DunHua S. Road. In 1984 it was reconstructed within the premises of BinJiang Park. Though not luxuriously decorated, the Old Residence of Lin AnTai is a magnificent piece of art. Choice materials and admirable craftsmanship show how master artisans had attended to details. With skillful hands they laid the corner stones, the red bricks and the stone window frames. The finishes of the pillars and bluestone thresholds, and the relievos on doors and windows demonstrate first-rate craftsmanship. This is truly one of Taipei’s most delicately built residences. The fact that most of the materials came from FuJien adds historical significance to its artistic value.
Transportation:Take Bus 72, 203, 246, 280, 642, or Dunhua Road Express to Minzhu E. Rd. Intersection, and walk for approximately 5 minutes. Location: 5, Binjiang Rd., Taipei

May. 5, 2005 - Changchun Taoist Temple
Located at Dadongmen, Wuchang, it is one of the ten holy places of Taoism in China. At present, it has been listed as a state key Taoist Temple by The State Council. Built in the early Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), the temple was for the memory of Qiu Changchun, the founder of Quanzhen Sect, so it has a typical Taoist Style and a strong local flavor.

Apr. 25, 2005 - Taipei

Not too long ago, the valley of the Danshui River was home to rice and vegetable farmers. Today it's the site of Taipei, the bustling centre of Taiwan's commerce, government and culture. As far as most people are concerned, this is the heart of Taiwan and the place where things happen.
Wandering around Taipei, while sometimes taxing, is always rewarding. It's worthwhile spending at least your first day there exploring on foot. While the architecture is rarely impressive, you'll discover plenty of colourful temples, inspiring monuments to heroes and fascinating museums.

Mar. 24, 2005 - A recipe I want share with you
Hot and Spicy Quail (Chim Cut Ro-Ti)
Vietnamese are fond of game birds, especially in the north where there is not as great a variety of food as in the south. The use of chili peppers is the legacy of Portuguese visitors who arrived as early as the sixteenth century.
4 dressed quail 4 tablespoons sesame oil
Marinade: 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 3 cloves garlic, crushed or 1 tablespoon garlic puree 4 spring onions, chopped 1-l/2 inch of lemon grass root, chopped 1 teaspoon chili powder or paprika 1 tablespoon fish sauce (nouc mam) 1 tablespoon palm sugar 1 teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons water Lime juice
- Split quail down the bony side and flatten to get a broad breast. Score breast with deep cuts.
- Make the marinade by heating vegetable oil in a skillet and frying garlic, onions, and lemon grass for a few minutes. Add chili powder, fish sauce, sugar, salt, and water and simmer for 3 minutes. Remove and cool.
- Marinate quail and chill for two hours.
- Heat broiler or barbecue and broil for 15 minutes on each side, basting frequently with sesame oil and marinade, until bird is crisp, aromatic and sizzling. Serve with a good squeeze of lime juice over quail.
Makes 4 servings.
Cook's Note: If you don't have a broiler, roast quail in a hot oven for 30 minutes, turning once and basting frequently.

Feb. 24, 2005 - Ghost Festival

Ghost Festival is one of my favorites festivals here in Taiwan. Teams of participants climb greasy poles hoping to be the first to get the flag at the top and win the competition. I never did this, but I have a lot of friends that do!! Awesome!!
